Chaupad (A Traditional Indian Dice Game) - Perhaps no other game is played in so many different variations all over India as Chaupad. The variations often have slight differences in the board itself, the type of pieces used or the rules and methodology. One of a family of cross and circle games, Chaupad is believed by many to be among the oldest games from India. Legend has it that Emperor Akbar played it on giant boards with women from his harem moving instead of game pieces. This game is believed to be the source for the popular game - Ludo. Traditionally cowrie shells were also used as throw pieces. Since harvesting cowrie shells affects our bio-diversity, responding to an NGO's call, Kreeda has discontinued the use of cowrie shells. We have specially designed shell shaped wooden throw pieces instead of cowrie shells.

  • Traditional version of the popular game of Ludo. Suitable for ages 5 to adult.
  • Eco friendly colourful design printed on canvas. Drawstring bag to hold game pieces. Gentle and occasional hand wash
  • Game pieces, traditional Indian long dice and shell shaped wooden throw pieces crafted for Kreeda by artisans from Channapatna.
  • Suitable for family play.Helps in developing simple mathematical skills and counting skills, thinking and planning
  • Interlocking box for easy closure and convenient storage. Rule sheet included.
  • Handcrafted pieces. So, variations in colour may exist depending on the source of the raw materials. As counters are small in size, children should be supervised during play.Breakage is possible on rough handling.  Hand-made items. Individual variations will exist.
